What to expect

The Parque de Atracciones is Madrid's classic amusement park, set in the Casa de Campo. It opened in 1969, covers about 20 hectares and is divided into four zones: Tranquilidad for family rides, Maquinismo for thrill rides, Naturaleza, the greenest zone, and Nickelodeon Land, added in 2014.

The big names are Abismo, a roller coaster with a long drop, the inverted Tornado, Vértigo and the Tarántula spinning coaster, plus La Lanzadera, a tall drop tower, and the Star Flyer swing ride. Water rides such as the Aserradero log flume cool you down, and gentler rides, including Patrulla Canina, suit small children. Each ride has height rules, so check the park's guide before promising anything.
